He entered the tournament in the hopes of persuading the Zaibatsu to assist in his quest for revenge. Upon being released from prison, Eddy learned of the Mishima Zaibatsu and The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. During this time, the old man told Eddy that he had a granddaughter, and asked Eddy to pass the art of Capoeira on to her. Eddy became his student, becoming a Capoeira master in the eight years he trained under the old man. During a prison riot, he noticed an old man using Capoeira. Prison life was difficult, and Eddy hungered for revenge against his father's killers. Eddy obeyed his father's last wish and was incarcerated. Eddy's father told Eddy to falsely confess to killing him because prison would be the safest place for him now. When Eddy was 19, he came home from school to find his father shot and dying. In Eddy's late teens, his father was working to destroy Brazil's drug cartel. Eddy was born to a one of the richest families in Brazil and was on track to inherit the family business.
